James was born in Denver, Colorado but  has lived in Minnesota since the age of one.  He lived in St. Paul most of his formative years with his mother and sister.  He attended Como Park High School where he was active in sports, the student council and where he served as Class President.  James was the first member of his larger family to attend college.  He studied History and Political Science at the University of Minnesota where he was active in student government and his Fraternity, Kappa Sigma.  He went on to obtain his Master’s Degree from the University of St. Thomas in Education and Curriculum.   He has taught high school social studies and has been an administrator in Minneapolis, private and suburban schools.  He has two children, Marcos and Marina whom he spends a majority of his time with.  He currently works for Follett Software based in McHenry, IL as a District Sales Consultant.  He and his family love living in Maplewood and enjoy the parks and Vento Trail daily.
